Description

This little fellow came in with the dried grasses I gathered for a flower arrangement today. He very kindly cooperated while I stuck the grass in a vase under the kitchen cabinet lights and grabbed my macro lens

Looks like a ladybug larva Sandy. I really like the dark BG, the light grass and the dark bug contrasts.

Thanks for the ID, Ed -

What a nice and unexpected guest into your home, Sandy. I have seen these I think and didn’t realize what they were. It and the grass stands out nicely against the dark BG. If it could be done I might would even try darkening the portion at the bottom so all of the BG is pretty much black and then it is truly all about the Ladybug larva and the grass. Just a thought. It is a fine image as presented.

Sandy: Marvelous opportunity and superb execution. A simple but very effective comp. Most excellent. >=))>

I really like the simple composition here, Sandy. I like Shirley’s suggestion of going all black with the background (maybe with a very fine border stroke). Nice find and well photographed.
