A Star is Born

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

A tiny ladybug instar (nymph) on “rattlesnake” grass, very appropriately named. This time of year here on the Oregon coast, the fields are drying and there are many kinds of photogenic grasses to be found. Lots of little bugs crawling around, as well.
This one cooperated, as I brought the stalk into my studio for good lighting.

Specific Feedback

Is it bothersome that the instar is facing away?

I like how the ladybird beetle larva pops out in the large view. Dark BG works very well for the grass. I would not change anything as I like this one as presented…Jim

I like this one too Sandy. Snakegrass has always been fascinating to me. The ladybug nymph is a great added bonus. The black BG gives this a nice showcase.

Sandy: Excellent studio work. You took full advantage of the controlled conditions and have a superb result. The grass is a cool subject in its own right and the ladybug party crasher is icing on a very nice cake. Well done. >=))>

This is a beautiful image. Tone and Composition is really nice. High ISO and I don’t see any noise. Very cool and interesting !!!
