Mark, I like the composition very much. I think I would crop of some off left side as it seems unbalanced. I tried a crop. I like how the rock is larger and closer as well. See what you think.

Thank you Mario. I like what you’ve done in centring the image but I miss the rain over the distance peaks.

What a beautiful spot to photograph. Being partial to grand scenes, this one works well for me Mark. I like the time of day you captured, and there is nice layering anchored by that big mountain.

This was my initial thought too. If you really want to keep some of that rain in the upper left, you could do a compromise crop. I also thought the foreground is a bit bright given the rest of the scene; it snags my eye a bit.

I like johns crop better as it retains the area of your concern with the rain.

Hi Mark,
This is a grand scene for sure with some wonderful atmospherics and mood. You conveyed the cold, wet and windy day beautifully and that ice covered rock reinforces that feeling. The colors also look spot on for my tastes. I very much like the compromise crop from @John_Williams. Did you happen to move more to the right and capture any images? I ask because I could see using those rocks as a leading line toward the mountains and those amazing storm clouds. Beautifully done.

Thanks Ed.

I have a few to the right where the foreground is, I think the subject, rather than the peak across the water.

I don’t find the FG to be all that busy but that bright tuft of grass in the center feels just a touch too bright. I think John’s crop works really well and balances this scene out perfectly. I like that the sky has some nice color, but it isn’t one of those nuclear sunsets (not that there’s anything wrong with those!). Lovely scene and photograph, Mario.
