In the last day of 2018 we drove past this Common Sandpiper. I cannot imagine having seen one perched on a pole, let alone a nice and weather concrete one… So, I just had to stop and shoot. Even for a ‘bird on a pole’ shot :wink: … Taken while we had a short holiday in Portugal last week.

A lovely old pole, Hans. I’d never have guessed it was concrete. Goegeous light and a nice head turn with a background that almost glows. Beautiful image.

My first thought on seeing this was “pleasing”. What beautiful light and background! And I had to do a double take when you said the post was concrete.

Bird, background, and light are beautiful. As far as manmade perches go, it’d be hard to beat this one!
