The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
As the first snow of this winter had fallen, I expected some good birds today. But, as John Lennon sings: “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”. No birds, but this leaf fell into the snow just as shown while I walked along.
Specific Feedback
I’d like to know if I’ve done the snow justice. Also, do you like the composition? (Click to Dark using the new Color Mode icon in the second line of the site, at the top, for best viewing).

Like Kristen’s recent post, another nice minimalistic image, Mike. The snow looks good. I could also see this as a larger image with more snow and perhaps the leaf not as centered.
Ugh. Sorry. But it’s so much like what I would stop for. The vertical orientation is perfect and the diagonal shadows are a nice element to bring some life to the snow. Such a ragged little leaf, I’m glad it got some love. The crop and amount of snow look about right to me, but maybe a little off the top wouldn’t hurt.
Lovely, and it tells a good story! I think you’ve done a very good job with the snow – texture and colors. The subtle diagonals, with matching leaf shadow, work very well to add some structure and depth. Good work!
Mike: Are you channeling @Kris_Smith ? When I first saw the thumbnail I thought it was one of hers and I hope you will take that as the high compliment intended. I generally like the comp for sure but since the leaf is casting a shadow it tells me this is at least partially sunlit and I think the whites could be boosted significantly and still avoid being blown. Raising them also makes the leaf pop a bit more. My only other suggestion would be to move the leaf a bit lower and left in the frame. Nice find and thanks for reminding me of the Korean winter! >=))>
Thanks @Kris_Smith@Diane_Miller@Bill_Fach@Allen_Brooks@Dennis_Plank. Kris, I thought of you as the leaf fell in front of me - you blew it my way! Bill, I’ve posted a rework above - there was modest sun, and I like the new composition, less grey snow and a brighter leaf. My goal is not to replicate exactly what I saw (impossible anyway), but to make the shot as pleasing aesthetically as I can. It still looked pretty much like this to me.
