The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
For this one I was drawn to the layers and leading composition. It was around mid-day and you could see for miles there was also a haze which helped the layers.
I am going for muted colors and want the focus to be on the mountains. The idea was to draw a persons eye into the distance
Specific Feedback
I kind of hit a wall with this image. I have been trying to think of what it needs. I like the composition and believe I accomplished the muted look. I’m curious to see what others think. what do you see and what would you change.
Technical Details
Processed with photoshop. My editing was color, dodge and burn, and a crop. I cloned out a white building that was down on the right. I felt it was super distracting is just wanted to show nature with little human intervention. also I tried to focus stack but my images were not all sharp so I did some cloning because the areas of the stack were obviously blurry.

Hi Brett,
Nice to see an image from you again. The layering with the mountains adds some wonderful depth to the scene and I do like the soft color palette as well as it adds a serene peaceful vibe to the image. For my tastes the FG is a little to dark as well as a bit too much. I hope you do not mind, but here is a rework with what I was thinking. Just my opinion of course. I hope to see some more images from you as well as your critiques of other photographer’s posts. Very nicely done.
Hi, @brett_joslin. You have an amazing first name! I’m in agreement with Ed on this one. All those layers add wonderful depth and the soft color palette gives this a peaceful mood. I also like Ed’s re-work with a lighter FG as it blends better with the rest of the scene. Look forward to seeing more of your work.
Yes an agree this is an amazing name! yours is a four letter Brett. @Ed_Lowe@Bret_Edge thank you for your feedback and think it’s great to get a second set of eyes ones work. Sometimes when you’re sitting staring at your screen it’s best to give the image a break. I will give this a second look!
Brett: Marvelous scene indeed and I like what you were after. I like what @Ed_Lowe did with the exposure. I’m not completely enamored with the square crop, especially if you are wanting the viewer to travel through the frame. I tend to see these kind of scenes more in portrait mode and it feels a bit better to me in 4x5 with a bit less sky. Over to you. >=))>
