Leaves of Plenty

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This growth of plants below me was so wide and dense that it was a challenge to find a pleasing arrangement to focus on. I thought this view worked, and the hint of new spring flowers just starting to open up adds to the appeal. I chose a black and white conversion, as I feel it gives emphasis to the textures in the leaves, and removes the distraction of color.

Specific Feedback

General feedback on your thoughts and impressions of the image. Do you think the black and white treatment is effective?

Technical Details

Canon R6 Mkii, 24-105mm lens @105mm
f/16, 1/10 sec @ISO 500
Processed in LR. Local editing with an adjustment brush to burn the edges of the frame for a vignette effect, which adds emphasis to the center of the frame.

Plenty is right. Excellent use of repeating shapes and patterns to harmonize things. The square crop helps keep our eyes moving around the frame, too. The light is soft and the addition of the water droplets is a nice touch. The structure of the leaves shows up well, too, with those bright center veins.

Ted, I really like the composition and rendering in B&W. The small water droplets lend a nice touch. Well done. Bill

Ted: Frame filling fantastic. I think your cropping and framing decisions work really well and this is also a fine conversion. Most excellent. >=))>

Thank you @Kris_Smith @Bill_Fach and@. @Bill_Reichhardt for your feedback and comments. Much appreciated.
