Life & Death in the Grand Canyon

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Taken on a 21 day Grand Canyon private river trip, this was one of my favorite takes, coming out of a side canyon hike, looking back into the main canyon. 21 days wasn’t enough…

Specific Feedback

Somewhere along the line I lost the original of this image, and this low resolution version is all I have. Any suggestions on how to upsize it? I thinks it’s got some problems with the background & even the foreground seems kinda chunky with the way it was processed. This is one of those older photos you find (2016) and wish you knew what you know now.

Connie, that tree does have a fascinating shape. You’ve shown that off well here with the golden walls behind. Having those big cactus pads adds valuable context. I also like that you have walls on both sides of the frame

Connie - a very interesting image! I like the scrawny tree and cactus, the canyon colours, and the walls on the sides. I’ve had pretty good luck with Topaz Gigapixel to upsize some older, low resolution files.
Great eye to have seen this!

Thank you Sandy. I just upgraded my Topaz Gigapixel, but haven’t tried it out yet.

Thanks! I missed that last free upgrade!
