Light Waves

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Exploring along a forest stream as the light was fading, I noticed these waves in one shallow section creating beautiful and undulating abstract patterns. The moment for me seemed to encourage looking for and embracing natural processes of change in whatever forms they may be. I used a brush stroke effect to smooth out the light and help add a meditative theme.

Specific Feedback

No cropping or masks were used and I kept the temperature on the cool side with minimal edits otherwise. Polarizer was manipulated to get the look I wanted. What are some of your impressions on the success of the image in conveying a story and what are your thoughts on the overall composition.

I like the colors. It has a cohesive composition. The background is visible at the bottom. The waves at the top run diagonally across the surface.
A very beautiful, balanced, and serene image.

This is a pretty cool image. I really like the colour palette with those orangish reds and the cool cyans and blues. If this image were mine, I might be inclined to crop it a bit just so the whole frame is filled edge to edge with those cool looking waves.

Thanks Kathrin. I appreciate your thoughts on the image!

Tom, thank you so much. The initial version of this did have the lower area cropped a bit as you mention and I liked it a lot. I decided though to just leave it alone and hoped the details at the bottom would lead the eye up. Appreciate your critique!
