The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I returned yesterday from four days on the Oregon Coast, so this challenge was very timely. The challenge for me was deciding which image to use. I usually end up taking a lot of shots of sand patterns and have thousands in my lightroom catalog and added more from this trip. I really must make a book someday. I particularly liked this image because of the curling shapes as well as the strong tonal contrast and the golden color.
I considered heading to the coast specifically for the weekly challenge, but got distracted by some other obligations. I’m surprised there is not more feedback on this image. Perhaps there is nothing to be said as it is so wonderfully seen, composed, and processed?
I absolutely love the repeating patterns and the gold color here. The slightly darker tones and the cooler color in the low spots of the top right corner keep this image interesting and give the whole thing a bit more tension.
Molten Waves ? You sure titled that accurately. Wow, this is very cool, what a great find.
Love that you filled the frame with the patterns. Also, you did a marvelous job with the color, contrast and processing in general. This would be an easy one to carry to far. Well done!
I got behind here again, but have to stop and give a shout out for this one – I can’t imagine such wonderful shapes in beach sand!! You captured and presented them very well – it is gorgeous and compelling!
Splendid pattern and your image renders it beautifully. What a strange structure… never saw anyhting like that. Seen many ripples (underwater or under air), megaripples, dunes, antidunes, and of the like, but this is very interesting, Wonder whether anybody has studied this specific pattern formation process…
Very cool. This makes me think of Renaissance (?) paintings of fabrics. I could see going a bit farther with the tonal contrasts, but you might prefer the softer look.
I really like the movement in this image. I also like the way you put the image on the diagonal which helps my eye move through the image. Beautifully done!!

Just the right amount color and texture without going too far. Was the upper right corner still wet? The curling patterns are what is really intriguing about this scene. They do look a lot like waves. What a timely challenge for you, Chris.
