Description
We saw a good bit of stick carrying down in the main Louisiana rookery we visited. This Little Blue Heron found a nice stick for the nest. I think I’ve read that the males collect the sticks and the females take them and arrange the nest. It’s a fun process to watch either way.

I think the last image is my favorite with the upturned feet. I wish the stick was not intersecting the eye in the second image.

Wonderful series!! All are so nice! I love the second for the balanced feel and the stick through the eye is just nature gesturing at you!
The Egrets at our local rookery are said to have the same arrangement of the males doing the heavy lifting. It’s tempting to wonder about the reception that some of the more ungainly offerings get.
All of these are excellent, Allen. I’m torn between the first and the last as my favorites. I do think the position of the feet makes a huge difference and in the last the face seems slightly more turned to the camera.
