I believe this is a Little Blue Heron, if I’m not mistaken. I took this Saturday (Nov 2nd) at Sunset Beach, NC. All comments welcome.

Pertinent technical details or techniques:

I shot this with Canon 7D Mark II, Canon 100-400 mm L lens at 310, on Manfrotto monopod with gimbal head. Settings Manual except ISO, that was set to auto, f8, 1/500, ISO 125. Taken 4:42 PM. Edited in LR and Topaz. Cropped in some, and removed some sticks from the water.

Your ID looks correct to me, Shirley. Excellent image with good detail in the bird and a nice pose. I like the vegetation reflections in the water as a background. Well done.

Nice pose with the head turn and the foot starting to come out of the water. Detail looks sharp and the background colors work nicely with the heron.
