Lone Picnic Grove

When I thought of this topic, it seemed straight forward. As I started looking through my files, it seemed much more complex and very dependent on the individual photographer. Now, I’m looking forward to seeing how others view this topic. Here’s a view of a picnic area adjacent to Great Smokey Mountain National Park that is being preserved in the midst of a cattle grazing area. (5D3, 24-105 @ 105, 1/30 s, f/16, iso 200, tripod)

Mark: Given the location I wonder if this was forest at one time and these trees were the only ones spared from clearing. Nice find and a good result. >=))>

The wonderful, brooding grey clouds make the trees seem solitary. The diagonal of the hillside is very dynamic and makes the photo more interesting than if the trees were in a flat field. The color contract between the warm, yellow of the grass and the cooler clouds is pleasing.
