Look Both Ways

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I’ve continued to do some work with my latest orchids. I couldn’t decide which side presented the best view so I shot them both and combined them in one frame.>=))>

Specific Feedback

Full stacks on these two. Exposed the BG to render pure white.

Bill, this is sweet! Beautiful orchids, in a nice display, set off perfectly with the white BG.
Very pleasing presentation.
I knew this was yours, even before I opened the thumbnail.

Beautiful work, Bill. Both sides are exquisite and I like the idea of combining the two. It makes me wonder if there’s a way of using mirrors to do this without getting unwanted junk in the reflected image. Sounds like a nice ugly weather project.

Dennis: Great minds think alike and I have tried but with very limited success. If you figure out a way please share.

Quite lovely and I can’t decide which side is better either. Good job reaching a good solution to have both. Such great textures and forms. I am not a plant person and have no experience with orchids so this is a nice treat. The colors are so harmonious and the white surround works excellently.

Hi Bill,

Often orchids only give the photographer one side for the best view. The flowers stand out well from the high key presentation and I like this one as presented…Jim

Bill, Great idea to use a white background. In the past in my limited orchid photography i have either used black velvet as a background to more recently darkend the background in locations in which i cannot change the background. Those are some really well formed orchids. Well done.
