Luna

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This Luna Moth caterpillar was seen munching away in the Native Butterfly House of the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. I used a wide open lens to direct attention to his most interesting feature, the head and mandibles, used to chew foliage. This one was in one of the later instars (stages) and would soon spin a cocoon to pupate.

Specific Feedback

All comments and suggestions are welcome and thanks for viewing.

Technical Details

Fuji X-H2, XF 16-80 @ 80mm, ISO 125, f/4, 1/160s HH. Post processing included adjustments to exposure and around a 50% crop.

Looks like a really vicious set of teeth on that thing, Jim. I’m glad it prefers leaves. I like the shallow depth of field and the green on green look of the image.

@Dennis_Plank , thanks for your comments!
