My wife and I were pleasantly surprised to see this beauty yesterday in the backyard. An early emerger.

That sure was nice to find him in your backyard. Hopefully spring is here, or at least early. Been a tough winter. Nicely capture, Allen. I was able to go to the Botanical Garden today. Not a lot there yet but I got a few shots. Hopefully something I can post later. It was just great to be back out there.

Absolutely gorgeous find in pristine condition, Allen, and you did a great job photographing him.

Splendid shot, Allen, and the dark rough bark contrasts beautifully with the smooth colorful moth. I think these moths are quite easy to gently move on a stick. In this case, it’s already in the best place for a shot. The f32 paid off - a flash would change the color.

Wonderful, with excellent detail and the perfect BG! I love the way you framed it – no suggestions!

Looks very good and am glad that you are getting some Spring temperatures. Overall sharpness is excellent with just a small %age of the subject falling slightly from the ideal plane of focus. The diagonal placement works fine for this image. A beautiful image and its fine as presented…Jim

Allen: These are such neat creatures and the bark is a great BG IMO. We have some monarch caterpillars on our milkweed and we actually had a few chrysalises that over-wintered and today I spotted a dragonfly cruising about so it looks like critter shooting is about to begin. You’ve gotten off to a great start. >=))>

Wow, Alen, I have never seen one of those. I like the color contrast which came out great.

Allen, this is an outstanding look at this Luna Moth, where the background adds a lot to the view and sets of the moth very well. Nice Find!
