Hummingbird Moth

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I caught this hummingbird moth working my Cleveland sage blossoms late in the day. They are slightly smaller than a hummingbird and more frantic in their movements. It really was a challenge getting it. Here’s a pose I got that depicts its proboscis that it was very clever at curling, and uncurling it and stabbing it into the narrow blossoms. I was mesmerized, never having seen one before.

Specific Feedback

I decided to not get rid of the black bar. Not ideal but it does serve to help describe its head area.
