Macaw Kiss

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Hyacinth Macaws, Brazil’s Pantanal
These gorgeous macaws are the largest macaw, at over 3 feet from head to tail-tip. Their wingspan is up to 5 feet.
These two were snuggling and nibbling gently in the tree for the entire hour we were in the vicinity, photographing different birds. Their large nest was in an adjacent tree.
My great aunt Pauline kept one of these. As a child of 5-12, when she passed on, I remember the huge blue parrot, but I mostly remember my mother squawking at all the bird poop in her apartment.

Given the purported strength of their bills, I don’t think I’d want to be on the receiving end of that kiss, Sandy. Great interaction and a very nice setting. It feels to me like it could use a bit less room on the right, but I can’t see a really good place to crop it with the small branch coming back toward them.

A very nice image – wonderful to see these guys in the wild! I could see taking some off the right but not really a big deal, especially if you want to preserve the aspect ratio.

Friends had one of these years ago. It was very clever and very mischievous, and swore like a sailor.

Great interactive shot. Beautiful colors and sharp detail. I like the setting as well-the branches and leaves seem to frame the birds nicely.

This is a really nice look at these two love birds Sandy. I love those rich deep blue and gold colors. That tree branch looks like it has a ton of character too.
