Male Sachem

Image(s)

Image Description

This male Sachem is a small (~1 cm, 1/2 in) butterfly that’s common in late summer. It’s small size makes it easy to overlook although it shows up in large numbers. It does glow nicely, as seen here, when it catches early/late sunlight.

Great light that makes this critter just glow!
I can’t believe you were able to sneak up this close - great work
Excellent detail and colour contrasts, and a nice perch.
Very appealing image for me!

Very well caught, Mark. I do like how the shadow fits on the leaf. That’s a good f-stop for butterflies as you get all-round sharpness, and it encourages one to avoid a busy background.
