The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I got this guy near a hanging suet block. I enjoy seeing open underwing shots that show off the nifty feather patterns of bird’s wings. I was happy to get this capture.

Specific Feedback

Is the contrast of the BG to the subject enough to separate them? Cropping okay?

The crop works fine, Dave. I’d be tempted to reduce the contrast and brighten the background a bit to make the bird stand out a bit more.

Hi Dave, nice spread wing catch with a good look at the eye. Cropping looks good. In the large size the bird stands out well enough from the BG for my taste. Wish the bird was a tad sharper.

Thanks for your input. I think I got this shot using the “pre-capture” setting which shoots .jpeg and I always shoot RAW which is noticeably better quality than .jpeg. I keep hoping that Nikon will upgrade it to shooting RAW in pre-capture.
