Mob scene

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

crows don’t really like raptors very much. This one having a discussion with the bald Eagle. This is taken several years ago I think. this was recently reprocessed.
Crows are really difficult to get any detail and in this situation where it’s kind of dark, I’m afraid the crow doesn’t stand out as much as it should. Anybody have any ideas?

Specific Feedback

anything useful

Technical Details

I just don’t remember details.

I think the crow stands out just fine, David. I’d be tempted to darken it just a bit, but I like my black birds darker than a lot of people. I’m not sure what your RAW processing was, but it looks like there’s a bit of chromatic aberration fringe on the very top of the eagle’s head. You might check to see that the lens corrections are turned on in your raw processor. LR seems to want to default to off on me. It’s under the lens corrections section way down in the processing menu.

This is a fine behavioral image David. Crows are tenacious birds, but his antics don’t seem to be working on the eagle.

The crow stands out nicely for me but I was wondering if perhaps you could make a small, very subtle vignette around the crow to draw the viewers eye. Maybe flattening the contrast around the crow? Just thoughts.
