Hi Dave. It might be the lighting, but the raven looks very bright to me with almost no black showing. I do tend to push the blacks on crows and ravens, but to me this feels like it’s made out of metal rather than feathers.

Looks like strong lighting hitting on the front of the bird but the feathers look alright to me given this. The black and white treatment seems to have tamed the distractions in the image a bit. Nice details throughout on the bird.
I like the pose and find the perch to be an interesting component of the image. I’d be tempted to remove some of the background elements that seem to emanate from the raven and perhaps the branch in the upper left corner.

I like the idea going to a BW, Ravens and other black feathered birds are a challenge to reproduce in a photograph. With that though, I brought your photograph into Kik 7 Silver Efex and can up with this. Hope you like, or any thoughts.
