Rooftop Raven

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I was out back this morning looking for some birds to shoot when this raven landed on a nearby rooftop. I liked the pose that it struck with the breast feathers splayed out.

Specific Feedback

I considered doing something with the black BG elements then decided that they kinda went with the blacks in the foreground and left them alone. Yeah?

Technical Details

Z9, 180-600 lens, monopod, 1/640th, f 9.0, 1260mm, ISO 1250, cropped to 2557 x 2739

Excellent detail in the raven, Dave. I might wish for a bit more of a head turn, but this does have the look of a bird surveying it’s domain.

Good detail in the blacks with some iridescence coming through. Background looks okay. The pose makes one wonder what it’s looking at.

Hi Dave, fine details and well exposed. Agree with the sense of the bird overlooking its range.

Nice shot of a beautiful shiny raven Dave. Nice detail and even though it isn’t directly facing the camera it makes sense looking out to see what is out there.

It kept calling, and looking around skyward. I’m thinking it was not looking for food right then. Maybe a girlfriend?
