Molting Anole

I live in South Carolina, and these little “lizards” are everywhere. They like to hang out in our flower gardens, sleeping on the leaves and waiting for bugs to eat. One of our cats likes to bring them in the house (unharmed) and play with them, much to the chagrin of the Anole. Eventually we have to catch them and return them to the outdoors.’

This one interested me because of the molt, and also because of the background colors.

What artistic feedback would you like if any?

Would you do any further cropping?

Any pertinent technical details:

Nikon 50mm 1.8, /640 sec, iso 200.

That is an interesting color pattern, Larry. I like the way the eye contact and the dead leaves are really cool as is the light. I think increasing your iso and stopping down to get more depth of field would have helped-those crinkly leaves deserve more attention, if possible, and the anole itself seems just slightly soft.

I think a slightly narrower crop would look a bit better. It feels rather squarish for a long skinny critter.

Thanks Dennis! I will put your advice to work the next time I see one.
