Moody Blue

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

A pretty simple and classic comp but I liked the juxtaposition of a blue dasher against the blue BG of the reflected sky. >=))>

Specific Feedback

Tried the beta version of automatic dust spot removal in ACR and it worked great. Not in LR or LRC yet but what a nice time saver. Anyone else had the same experience?

Great Image. Perfect composition catching this guy hanging on the tip of this plant. I agree the BG works really well and the green pops. Very sharp in his body !!!

I love the composition in this one, Bill, and you did an excellent job on the dragonfly itself. I hadn’t heard about the dust bunny removal. I may have to try it when it hits LRC, though for some reason I haven’t had as many issues with them as I did with the 7Riv.

Hi Bill,

There’s something about this composition that keeps drawing me in. Maybe it’s the very bright luminosity of the leaf contrasting against the subdued tonal curve of the animal. In any event, it really works. Congratulations!

Russ.

Very nice shot, Bill. I also like the composition. The perch he is on is just perfect, and that blue (I am guessing water) for the BG work well together with the subject. The details in the DF are top notch.

This is an ideal portrait of a blue dasher. The BG color goes well with the powder blue abdomen of the dragonfly. The shape of the leaf generates some nice curved boundaries for the BG. I like this one as presented…Jim

Bill, the blue/green combo looks great, especially with the subtle changes in blue between the DF and the background. He sure does stand out. With my mirrorless, it seems that dust spots are much fewer and farther between although I’ve had to clean the sensor a couple of times when I changed lenses without shutting the camera off. That leaves the sensor on and charged so it collects dust like crazy (I thought I’d sneezed on the sensor!!!..)
