Morning Magic

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I usually pass this meadow with some hawthorn trees on my weekend hike. Most days I just walk past the trees but some mornings the trees come alive with heavy dew, frost or ice lit by the morning light. I experimented with many different exposures and some abstracts but this is one of my favorites. I’m looking for deer and other wildlife that visit the meadow and usually have my long lens out.

Specific Feedback

Any feedback is welcome. In LR there is no clipping of highlights or shadows but I kept the background quite dark to contrast with the extreme highlights.

Technical Details

1/3200 sec, f8.0, iso1250, 318mm on full frame, handheld. LR Denoise. slightly cropped.
I was setup for shooting birds and wildlife and upped my shutter speed a bit to keep the highlights from blowing out. In hind sight I could have lowered the ISO. I was shooting in full manual.

Bryan, the tree is well placed in the frame and nicely lit. The larger view lets the glowing moss on the trunk add a touch of color for a good change-of-pace. It also makes finding what looks to be a Cardinal easier.
