Whispers of Light in the Silent Woods

Critique Style Requested: Standard

Description

Taking advantage of a quiet morning with nothing pressing on the docket, I decided to play a bit of hooky and visit one of my favorite national parks, just 15 minutes from where I work. Knowing the conditions were perfect for fog, I set out early, hoping to catch the light as it crested the tree line about an hour after sunrise. As I drove through the park’s entrance, I didn’t even need to go far—just pulled over on the side of the road when I saw this scene unfold. The sunlight gently pierced through the dense canopy, casting ethereal beams of light onto the forest floor below. The towering trees stood as silent sentinels, their rough bark illuminated by the soft, golden rays. Though this image may not be one of my best, it captures a fleeting moment of tranquility in the woods, a brief pause in the day to appreciate the quiet beauty of nature before clocking in. I just wanted to share this with you all.

Joseph, the crepuscular rays look great, shining through the trees. I’m enjoying the dark sentinels framing the view into the depths of the woods. You’ve handled the high contrast well. I could see not having the orange out-of-focus grasses along the bottom, but you’d have to pull an Ansel Adams and climb onto the roof of your car to get above them. Cloning out the bright spot at the very bottom would be good.

thank you for the great critique If I remember correctly I did stand on the back of my work truck for this shot :joy: but alas still grass. I really think that is a great suggestion. Fore some reason my eye never caught that particular bright spot at the bottom. Fresh eyes always help, thanks much good sir!
