I could give the big tree on the right more space. Or less. What do you think?

I am not troubled at all by the large tree trunk on the right, as it and the other foliage on the left act to frame the rest of the scene in the distance. The photo has a nice soft look to it-did you apply an Orton effect? Nice work here Pieter.

Thank you very much, Ted. I did not edit this at all except for cropping.

Nice pastoral scene, here. The color and tonality are right on considering you did no editing. You might consider burning down the light-toned branch mid-left. It catches my eye. Other than that small nit, I think this works well, Pieter.

Thank you, Preston. I tried burning it, but I am not sure it is an improvement.

Sorry, couldn’t resist that! Seriously, that is an excellent suggestion. It was bothering me too.

Pieter, you’ve framed this quiet pond very well. I especially like the two colorful shrubs in front of the lake. Interestingly, I think the light version of that branch on the left blends in better that the dark version.

Hmmm? Burning that branch had the effect opposite of what I thought it do. as @Mark_Seaver said, the light version blends better, and I agree. It was worth a try, though.

I suppose the only real solution would be to clone it completely, but that would be laborious.

Pieter: I like the original unburned version and I like the overall scene. The color palette is especially pleasing. I’m curious if this is a pond as @Mark_Seaver mentioned or a section of river. Regardless this is a wonderful scene nicely captured. >=))>

I really like the colors and the framing. It looks like a pond (or river) hiding in the middle of the forest and you discovered it. I prefered the branch in its bright original version but I feel like the sky might be darkened a bit to not pull my eye away from the pond. Really nice find.

We will try removal next…

Thank you so much, Bill.

I believe that is the French Broad River.

Thank you, Tamar! I appreciate your suggestions .
