Nesting

I’m finding it rather difficult to sneak up on the Killdeer while it’s on the nest. It’s very sensitive to my presence and I don’t want to disturb it any more than I need to. It is in my driveway and I have noticed that when I drive by in my car, it doesn’t seem to be bothered. I have a 1 ft.² opening in my shrubbery along the driveway that allows me a window at very low angle to see the bird on the nest.

On the last few images I posted of Killdeer, someone made a comment about their behavior when they are afraid; they move away from the nest and act as if they are injured. I will try to document this behavior but the light has not been favorable.

A very different take on a bird image and I like it for how it portrays the Killdeer on the nest. The selective focus on the eye is excellent. I do think a little extra blur on the background might be helpful from an artistic point of view as those rocks pull my eye.
