New Leaves of American Chestnut

Description: American Chestnut are not common. I planted two (select seed stock) and have delighted in them all spring, summer and fall. The leaves are unlike any other species, some up to a foot or more long.

I like the idea but that nearest leaf isn’t doing anything for me. Do you have one without it? Chestnuts hopefully can make a comeback. There’s a forest in NH that has them under cultivation.

John, the details in the main leaves look great. I too find the front, out-of-focus leaf distracting.

Thanks to you both. See attached. I think it is improved but the cropping suffers in my mind. Next year!
