Night Heron eating crab

Seen at Ding Darling NWR, Sanibel Island, FL.

I happened upon this Yellow-crowned Night Heron while I was driving out the refuge one morning. The nictitating membrane was over the eye. This was a very small crop - nearly full frame but I’m still wondering about the overall image quality. I guess it is sharp where it needs to be. Would this be a keeper for you?

Excellent action image. I really like the depth of field here. And despite shooting from a vehicle, you got really good point of view with the slightly angled composition.

The action alone would make this a keeper for me, Allen, and it illustrates a lot of natural history points, so it has some value from that standpoint. I don’t think there’s any way to get this in front-to-back focus at nearly full frame and the important parts are nice and sharp.
