I’m a newbie to bird photography, nevertheless I will pass on a few comments. Your focus on the eye is spot on and I love the setting. The feathers seem to be slightly out of focus; however, that may be because of the low 2.1 MB of the image. Personal preference, I would blur the background a tad more.
PS I used to live in CT, very familair with the location. Hammonaseett State Park is also a great area to photograph birds. Cheers
A very nice image of this bird that’s pretty hard to get, Peter. The plumage looks fine to me with the face, neck and body and legs nice and crisp. The only part that looks a bit off might be the wings and they have to be in focus with the rest sharp-I suspect an optical illusion. Since you mentioned that you cropped this, if you have more room for the virtual legs, I could see putting it back. They look a little hacked off in this composition.
This is a very nice look at a yellow Crown night heron. I’ve only seen this bird once so they are hard to find and I didn’t have my camera with me when I saw the bird. I agree with Dennis regarding the larger crop and legs being visible in the larger crop . Nice job.
Great look at this beauty! Looks sharp to me, and the head/eye is fine.
Nice surrounds as well. I agree a bit more of the legs would be good.
Another excellent image!
Head and eye are nice and sharp. I would add some room at the bottom to get more of that reflection in the frame. A tough bird to get and this is a good capture…Jim
Hi Gary, Dennis, David, Sandy & Jim
Thank you for the comments. What looks like an out-of-focus body is a feature of the Yellow-crowned Night-Neron’s feathers. It looks like that in every shot I have. In the first post, I only showed some of the legs in the reflection because I didn’t have the complete Heron in the reflection.
Peter
Hi Peter, great look at this beauty. Sharp catch throughout on the bird. Exposure looks quite nice. Agree with a tad more room for the legs in the original post.
