Nocturne

Image(s)

Image Description

This is one example of a not uncommon scene that unfolds over Lake Michigan on summer evenings. I made this photo years ago with my Nikon F100 and Fuji Velvia 50 transparency film (exposure not recorded). There was no post-processing after scanning. I liked this image so much that I had a painting of it commissioned which now hangs in my family room.

Robert, it’s a very pleasant and relaxing scene. It may be the Velvia (I always used Ektachrome), but the colors feel a bit oversaturated to me, especially the blues. Having scanned lots of slides, getting the colors “right” seemed to always be challenging.

I agree with @Mark_Seaver, Robert. It is a very nice scene and is well-composed. Having scanned many MF and LF trannies, I can attest to the difficulty of getting the colors right. It usually takes some serious tweaking in PS.

This image is worthy of a trip through PS for some tweaks and then a repost.

Robert: As one who used Velvia as my primary landscape film for years I like the intense color palette. I like your proportion of lake to sky. Beautiful scene nicely captured and presented. >=))>
