North American River Otter (Lontra canadensis), Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge, Ridgefield, Washington, USA
I’ve wanted to get shots of these otters for years and finally had the chance. This is one sunning himself, drying off after a fun swim and eat in the stream.

David, you could be a publicity agent for the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge! I can’t believe the variety of animals you’ve been able to see there! I want to go there sometime! You got a really nice capture of this otter!
Thank you, @Vanessa_Hill. It’s only thirty minutes from my home and I can simply drive around the loop with my camera out the window…almost a little too easy. But often times there is nothing out there to photograph…or they’re too far away. Still, it is a great opportunity to enjoy the peace of nature.
