Nothing doing (with new edit)

With some additional use of the Remove tool and a bit of blur -

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Another shot of this tiny grasshopper trying to hide from me in the salvia. After a bit I left it alone to go about its life. Haven’t seen it since, but I hope it stayed around. It’s a little less than 1 inch long, about 2 cm.

Specific Feedback

I cloned out a few blotches of purple flowers, but left the ones in the upper right. Should they go too? I am afraid of it becoming too static.

Technical Details

Handheld w/Godox Flash & MagMod diffuser and I think a 6mm extension tube

image

Lr for this crop and work to manage the somewhat overflashed look. No changes to color or hue. Some texture & clarity. Ps for the purple flower-ectomy and some CAF to extend the bottom a bit.

Kris, I think he is facing you better here. Not quite as shy. Lighting looks pretty good too.

Kris, the hopper stands out well here and definitely seems to be watching you warily. The focus on the hopper would be stronger without the oof flowers at the top. The gentle arch of its perch works well.

Thanks @Shirley_Freeman & @Mark_Seaver - the poor tormented insect - I really scared it for a while and I feel bad about that although no real damage was done. Did it need therapy after??

Anyway…I put a new version up with the top OOF purple flowers removed and a bit of blur added, too. Thoughts?? I have another coming, too. The little guy was just too darn cute.

That really helped, Kris. I like it.
