Nuthatch close up

It’s an irruptive winter for the red-breasted nuthatch and I have at least two coming to my backyard feeders here in Tennessee. I find these guys to be quite quick at the set up. This guy struck a pose for only about two seconds or so. Attracted by shelled peanuts.

Excellent, Allen. The detail is superb. I have the same problem with these guys. I gave up temporarily and took a shot with one on the peanut shelf (posted in Human and Fauna). If it’s a real irruptive year, you might end up with more. We had one winter several years ago when we had more Nuthatches than Chickadees.

Yes I agree with Dennis. Excellent image. You’ve got superb details, warm colors, nice diagonals, fine background, and an eye contact head turn.

Lovely detail, and the next color-coordinated environment! Very nice!

Good for you. They certainly don’t stick around for long. I like the nice pose you got. BG colors look nice and lots of fine detail in bird.
