Diane: really nice little image of this tit mouse. Superb job on the plumage. Nice perch. And the background goes really well with the color of the bird.

I got my old Nikon 4000 ED cool scan up and running. This is a pretty good job on slides and I’ve got lots of them. I still have some fine-tuning to do, but it appears that everything is working. I had to send it to a guy in Virginia to repair it because it had stopped working several years ago. Now I can bore everybody with my slideshows….

500mm with 2TC. That’d not easy to get good focus and detail. Love the colours

Aww, titmice are my favorite songbirds and I miss them terribly. The place was dirty with them when we were in NH and I loved their crabby little cries they made. Technically we have them in WI, but I’ve never had one in the yard and don’t recall ever seeing them out and about. Very strange. This species looks like the Tufted variety as juveniles - kind of smudged and unfocused in appearance before they get their adult coloring. That crest!!! So fabulous. Fantastic catch with the beak open mid-rant.

Superb exposure and detail and a nice perch and background Diane. I’m sure backing off on the zoom would have introduced a myriad of problems, but for my personal taste, the bird feels a bit crowded in this image. Maybe it’s the knowledge of how small the bird is and how much they move that makes it feel that way. Still an excellent image.

Well captured, Diane, Nice singing pose, excellent detail, and I like the perch with the lichen.

Thanks, @David_Schoen, @Michael_Mayer, @Kris_Smith , @Dennis_Plank and @Allen_Brooks ! I don’t remember why I didn’t back off the zoom but probably pieces of limbs I wanted to avoid. I pruned some branch tips on the right. I’m just naturally pixel-greedy, probably from limitations in the old days that are laughable now.

@Diane_Miller I have several terabytes of bird images tighter than this for the same reason.

What a little cutie this one is!

I love the calling pose, the perch and the matching background. No nits from me.

Hi Diane, love the pose and attitude shown here. Great complimentary background and perch. Wonderful details and nice angled pose towards us. No nits.

Thanks, @Glenys_Passier and @Allen_Sparks! These guys are probably the most common bird here and they seem to be mostly ignored by the Acorn Woodpeckers. Wish a few other species were that resilient…

We have so many birds that call my backyard home. And, yet, because they are common I seldom shoot them. It’s something I think about often and need to change.

For such a somber colored bird, you brought out the details with excellent brightness in the subject’s feathers. The open beak brings out the personality of this hyper little bird. I like this one as presented…Jim

Thanks, @Jim_Zablotny ! And @Glenys_Passier – go after those “common” birds of yours! They are exotic to most of us here, and your photography is exotic whatever you shoot.
