I like this photo a lot. The subdued colors in the BG blend in well with the bird and gives the photo atmosphere. The lighting is wonderful too. It really brings out the great texture in the feathers. The open mouth of the cormorant and his perch gives the composition some uniqueness. Nice job, Balan.
Yes, the quiet setting makes me feel he is yawning from a pleasant kind of boredom. My take would be to remove a little from the left, where not much is happening, but that empty space does add to the story.
The dark Cormorant against the darker background really works well in this image. There’s just enough highlight on the bird to show exquisite detail. Probably the only thing more that would have improved the image would be a little more of the head turn towards the camera.

The lighting really works in this photograph. From the muted background, the detail in the Carmorant’s back feather, the bright organ throat punch and eye contact.
