Could there be a better place to take the photo? I was on a steep incline opposite the clouds.
Looks like a great place to take a photo. Lots of nice drama in the sky. The 16x9 crop works well.

This is a grand view for sure with those fog shrouded mountains in the BG. I hope you were able to capture some more scenes like this while you were there. I also like the pano crop as well. The only thing that bothers me a little is that dead white tree towards the left side of the frame as it catches my eye a little. Did you happen to move towards the right a little and capture any images without that tree? Very nicely done.
Ed. I couldn’t move forward because I would fall off the cliff. Haha. I did get a number of shots though. They all are pretty nice. The clouds were moving around so I have a few other perspectives. Thanks for the compliment!

I think you picked a fine vantage point. I agree with Ed about the dead tree, I could see one option for a crop from the left that eliminated the tree and the pines entirely. My first reaction to your question about a better place was to suggest being down at the middle of the lake shooting towards the clouds on the left, despite the wind, the lake looks rather calm and the reflections of the clouds could maybe have been cool.
