First off I am glad you were not run over by the mountain bikers Ben! The lush greens are wonderful as are the trees; particularly the one in the FG. I also think the soft overcast light is perfect and works well for showcasing the details in the woodland floor. Nicely done; no suggestions from me.
For the past week, I have been trying to instruct my 16 year old grandson in the art of photography, a difficult task because his ADD has his brain about three steps ahead of my words. One way I have gotten his attention is to go through some of the images on this site to try to get him to understand composition, color balance and tonal range.
When he got to this one, he said nothing until prodded and he said, “why did he take this? I don’t understand what got his attention.”
I’m still trying to formulate an answer relative to his minimal exposure to photography. Would you please tell him what attracted you and what you wanted to convey to your audience, for me, please?
A very peaceful, cool, inviting woodland scene. I’d tell Chris’s grandson that it evokes feelings of quiet solitude, far removed from the cares of life.
By the way, I looked at your website - you have some really stunning images; I especially like the yellow leaves, sunrays through the autumn forest, and all the grand tree images.
really fine work…
