A short cycle tour on a spring evening

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

There is a small area not far from the village where I live, with wet forest and a lot of bird life. Sometimes it is too wet for a bike ride or even on foot with boots, but I like to go there frequently, especially in spring. This image is a bit older, but very typical for the area. It was made in the evening.
I left my bike standing to take a stroll and when I returned, I liked the light and the situation. So I pressed the release button.

Very evocative of a spring day in the woods, Han. I like the depth of field with the distant trees starting to go soft. I’m glad they chose to mount the sign on an unfinished post as it blends in quite nicely. I’m a bit uncertain about the crop. The sliver of light between the leftmost tree and the edge of the frame tends to pull my eye because of the high contrast between it and the dark trunk and that takes my eye out of the frame. If others feel the same way, a small crop from that side would eliminate the issue.

@Dennis_Plank Well, there seem to be no others :slightly_smiling_face:, but I see your point.
Thanks for your comment!

@Han_Schutten , the beautiful lighting caught my eye right away. I think of the word “sublime” looking at this! I love the bicycle nestled in there!
I don’t notice the sliver of light on the left at first, but now that I see it I do think it could be cropped out. I was actually thinking more to crop out the sliver of dark branch in the upper right!
Still, a peaceful and pretty scene.

Thank you @Mark_Muller for your comment. Much appreciated.

Han, you’re a master of green! Nothing disturbs my eye here - it’s so restful.

A masterfully peaceful image with exquisite light! The soft greens are very compelling.
I agree with a small crop from the left to remove that sliver of light, as well as removing that upper right dark branch that really draws my eye.
Congrats on a fine EP!
