On ice

What a difference a few degrees of temperature can make, whether from water to ice or ice over time. This was newly formed ice along the side of a river where the water level had fluctuated. I cropped to square format to keep my eye circling. The blues are reflections of the sky, the browns the bottom showing through the ice.

John, your recent abstracts have all been wonderful and this ice one is no exception! The image feels nicely balanced with my eye following the upper ice canyon down to the center. Great lines and patterns across the scene. Nice work!

Outstanding color and patterns with superb textures. A very cool abstract.

Good one! I like the mix of curved and angular lines.

The textures, colours and shapes all work for me. Good image

John,

Love it. The colors, lines and shapes are wonderful. For years most of us complain about “bluebird skies”, but as most find out, that doesn’t mean that photography stops! Reflected blues are nice additions to most any scene. I especially like this one.

Getting picky, I’m unsure about the dark URC and the softer LR area. But not deal breakers and considering this is abstract, we have the luxury of discounting many rules and expections. Which could also mean, why did I even bother mentioning? :upside_down_face:

Very cool abstract, John. It works quite well as a square crop.

Like a puzzle. All the parts coming together to create the one. What a cool,… cool shot
