One Leaf

What caught my eye was the golden leaf over the tree reflection.

What technical feedback would you like if any? What artistic feedback would you like if any?

Any comments welcome. I wish I’d gotten more space around the leaf, so it was smaller in the frame . Anyone else feel that way?

Pertinent technical details or techniques:

Single frame, a73r, 105mm, f/8, 1/50s, ISO 400, hand held.

Another gorgeous water study! I have no real critique but do wonder about a version with the leaf just a bit darker, or perhaps instead the sky a bit darker. Just a gut reaction to possibilities – but wonderful as presented!

Bonnie: Great juxtaposition of elements. Good vision and a fine capture. >=))>

Bonnie, the lone floater against the clear reflection of many leaves is a great job of story telling. The warmth of the golden brown leaf against the blue water and dark reflection works very well also.

Thank you, @Diane_Miller, @Bill_Fach, and @Mark_Seaver for your appreciation. I did fiddle around with the relative brightness of the water vs. the leaf, and settled on this. Darker water felt too depressing; the leaf was brighter, and I did darken it to bring out more color.

Quite nice, Bonnie. The image has a fine simple elegance to it. Well seen and executed.

Great idea, Bonnie. The only issue is it’s centeredness. Pulling back to make the shadow more prominent and the leaf smaller might be interesting.

@Igor_Doncov, I agree on the size of the leaf. I wish it were smaller in the frame. This is a crop of a larger area, but the shadow wasn’t as interesting in the rest of the frame.
