Outer Island

Outer Island is the outer-most island in the Thimble Island archipelago in Long Island Sound, off Branford, CT. After serving as a summer residence for 3 different families over 100 years, it became a unit of the Stewart B. McKinney NWR in 1995. I have been a volunteer here for 15 years and just realized I don’t have many landscape images that do it justice.

Specific Feedback and Self-Critique

I chose this image because it shows off the pink granite that underlies all of the Thimble Islands, and I liked all of the curvy lines that make up the image. Old sea walls can be seen in the background, damaged from storms years ago. All suggestions and comments are welcome and thanks for viewing.

Jim, this is a very inviting scene. The mix of rocks, vegetation, sea and sky look great, with the big swoop of the “beach” adding a fine sense of depth.

I agree, Jim. The curves are one of the first things I noticed. Lovely beach and nicely done.

Thank you @Mark_Seaver and @linda_mellor for your encouraging critiques.
