I have not been using my Nikon Z7_2 much so I desided it was time to break the ice. I do like it more for landscapes. This was taken a day after freezing cold and snow fall. The sun came out yesterday and melted all the new snow and warmed to about 50 degrees on Plum Island in Massachusetts. I actually was out looking for the recently spotted short eared owl and I think I saw him but the blazing sunset over the marsh was also a special treat.

A lovely quiet scene with a nice sky and interest in the water, with the irregular shapes and the bit of reflected pink. For me, the “horizon” is the fine line of reflection just below the trees, and it is tilted CW. My eye is also drawn to the bit of water at the bottom edge, which feels like it should either be more comfortably in the frame or excluded.
So were you up in the viewing tower for this? Looks like. I’ve done that. It’s nice when there aren’t a lot of lights on the opposite bank. Colors are smooth and natural, but I do agree about the strip on the bottom - it needs to look more deliberately a part of the composition or be cropped.
Norma the swaths of color are lovely. The bit of sunset color in the tidal gut adds a lot to the foreground. For me, the stretch of water along the bottom adds a bit more complexity and depth to the scene. Both versions look great and are wonderfully inviting.
Thank you Mark, I did take several and I picked the one with the extra stretch of water purposely as I felt the same, more depth to the scene. It certainly was and amazing sunset to view in person.
