Hi David - Sweet! The B&W works perfectly here, and the lower trees add a lot of interest. Excellent pose from the egret, fine handling of the whites and shadows - not the tiniest nit from me!
This is lovely, David. The only thing I might change is to do a curves adjustment or something similar to bring the more subdued tones on the egret up a bit and give it a tad more pop from the background.
@SandyR-B Thanks for the kind comments. I really appreciate them.
@Dennis_Plank, thanks for the suggestion. I struggled with how to separate the sky and the bird in B&W. I posted a revision above. Let me know if it’s in the right direction.
I think it is - the bird seems to have a bit more life and zip which the pose demands - so much life and energy. The square crop works excellently since there isn’t any framing or other device to give context. The post though does some of that. I can imagine a marina or some similar place where this bird tolerates us in its life. Black and white helps us concentrate on these elements of your photo. Bravo.
Nice catch David - l like the landing pose here and the B&W treatment works well. I’d keep the trees in the lower BG - they give a nice sense of context.
Wonderful!! I love the pose, the post and the trees! The quality of soft focus on the trees is just right, for my taste. I’m inclined toward the OP – the bird has such a nice luminosity – but both are gorgeous! I wonder about bringing out a bit more detail in the post – especially the top half. (I’d leave the bottom half as it is to act as a vignette to keep the eye from running down it and off the bottom, as there is so much interesting detail toward the bottom.
I got way behind here the last week or more, so just now trying to catch up a bit.
Hi David, I like the increased brightness in the wings on the repost. Black and White works well here. Good landing pose. I like the trees; for me they add an interesting element. The detail and handling of the whites is excellent.
