The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I was playing with ICM a couple of days ago, but I also did some still shots with the idea of blending them. This started with a still shot and a horizontal ICM of the same approximate area.
Specific Feedback
Anything. I may have gotten a bit carried away here after I blended them using the difference mode which created some interesting colors and did nice things to the tree trunks.
Technical Details
Sony A1, FE 200-600 + 1.4TC @ 280 mm, monopod, f/13, 1/15, iso 1000. One image with horizontal movement and one without. Lots of playing in LR & PS CC.
“Bit carried away”: I don’t think one can get carried away when creating abstract nature images. The tree trunks are wonderful and done just right. Excellent.
You may call it “playing”, Dennis, but it’s very creative - and still clearly nature-related. My only suggestion might be to introduce, if possible, a bit more color in the lower half to balance the amount in the top half, as I really love the colors here.
Nothing wrong with experimenting in the digital darkroom Dennis. I’ve come across a few happy accidents by trying various blend modes. Really engaging effect in your image with the colors and form of the trees.
Kaleidoscope immediately comes to mind. Very wild mix of colors - and almost neon at that.
As with many abstracts where the subject matter is pretty obscure, some times there’s often too much being presented. Not necessarily a bad thing, and of course personal choice reigns…but for me, I could see a square crop, probably of the right side, but a square crop anywhere would work!
