Low tide in winter is a great time to photograph the California coast (well, any time is great, but winter light is special). We had hiked to the end of Limantour Spit at Pt. Reyes (northern California), just to do a hike. I didn’t expect to get such great light, color, texture, and shapes, so this scene was a wonderful surprise.

I’m ok with this, but any comments welcome.
Pertinent Technical Details
Processed in ACR & PS; mostly targeted adjustments to even out the light. The low-angle light picked out everything so well, I didn’t need to do much adjustments. I did clone out some footprints.
This is such a lovely calming image. Beautiful lead in lines that beckon exploration. Blues and browns are a favourite of mine. The limited palette is gorgeous.
I love the combination of blue and brown and how the reflection fits with the shapes of the other parts of the image. The combination of little shapes in the sand to the broader clean quiet water is really great.
The “true blue stretching all the way to infinity” sky and it’s mirrored reflections makes the image for me. As an added bonus, no freeze-frame “out of control” surf crashing into a stubborn cliff. A beautiful “This is as good as it gets. It does not get any better than this!” way to end a day. Two thumbs up for me.
