I love this image! Definitely not too simple to be interesting. I live in Sicily where prickly pears are everywhere and I’ve taken countless images of them but have never been happy with the results . This image has inspired me to go out and try again!

Don: Really good image here IMO. I love cactus but don’t get around prickly pear much and how you’ve captured and processed this brings out the character of the plant and buds. I also like your DOF choice and lighting. Superbly crafted shot. >=))>

Matthew, Bill, thanks. Matthew, I’ve also taken scads of photos of prickly pears. This may be the first one I’ve liked.

Different and very worthy! I also appreciate how difficult it is to find a good composition for these things, but you have done it here. The B/W is perfect! One thought would be to burn down the two OOF buds in the lower corner, just a bit more.
