Lost Prickly

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I took a quick day trip to Lost Maples State Park in central Texas Tuesday. The park is so named because there is an island of maple trees in the Sabinal River canyons that no one really knows how they got there and propagated successfully. It’s a fall color exception in this part of Texas and puts on a show every year. It was late this year due to our mild temperatures and no real cold snaps. Right at the start of my hike I spotted this lone prickly pear seeming to be growing right out of the rock. I didn’t see any others on the entire hike so this guy may be lost too. >=))>

Specific Feedback

Decided to stack this so the BG wouldn’t be as distracting as it was at f16 and a single capture. Still too busy?

This looks good to me, Bill. I don’t find the background disturbing at all. I like the composition, though I could also see a slightly tighter crop everywhere except the left side.
